National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP) is India's most ambitious infrastructure programme, being implemented by National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC). It aims to develop next-generation industrial cities as Smart Cities by integrating advanced technologies across multiple infrastructure sectors.

To develop India as a global manufacturing and investment destination using a high-capacity transportation network, creating new industrial cities as 'smart cities' and converging next generation technologies across different sectors thereby creating employment opportunities and economic growth leading to overall socio-economic development.

Evolution of NICDC

Following the expansion of the DMIC Trust's mandate and its reconstitution as the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) in December 2016, DMICDC Ltd. was renamed the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) Limited in February 2020 to lead the development of industrial corridor projects under India's National Industrial Corridor Programme.

Planning & Project Development

NICDC undertakes project development activities, including the preparation of master plans, feasibility studies, and detailed project reports (DPRs). It also facilitates infrastructure development through financial structuring, resource mobilization, and credit support for strategic projects.

Integrated Industrial Development

NICDC is mandated to develop Investment Regions, Industrial Areas, Economic Regions, Industrial Nodes, Integrated Manufacturing Clusters, Industrial Townships, and other industrial corridor projects while supporting State Governments in their implementation.

Foundation of DMICDC

Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC) Limited was incorporated on 7 January 2008 as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) under the administrative control of DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, to undertake project development and coordinate the implementation of industrial corridor initiatives.

2006

Iconic Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) conceived as a symbol of Indo-Japan strategic partnership.

2007

Cabinet approved development of the first industrial corridor Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) as a global manufacturing and investment destination utilising the high capacity 1504 km Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) as the backbone.

2008

Formation of Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (Ltd.)  Click Here

2011

Government of India approved the financial and institutional structure for implementation of DMIC project.

2011-2014

Kickstarted pre-project activities for DMIC corridor projects related to detailed master planning & preliminary engineering, project structuring, project appraisal, signing of SHA’s and SSA’s with respective State Government, acquisition of land for the projects, formation of SPVs etc.

2014

CCEA approval accorded for development of trunk infrastructure components of (i) Integrated Industrial Township – Vikram Udyogpuri (IIT-VU), Madhya Pradesh under DMIC. Click Here

(ii) Integrated Industrial Township – Greater Noida (IIT-GN), Uttar Pradesh under DMIC and setting up of Model Solar Power Project in Neemrana, Rajasthan. Click Here

2015

CCEA approval accorded for development of trunk infrastructure components of (i) Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), Gujarat under DMIC. Click Here and (ii) Shendra Industrial Area, Maharashtra, as part of ShendraBidkin Industrial Area (SBIA) under DMIC Click Here

2016

CCEA approval accorded for development of trunk infrastructure components of Bidkin Industrial Area, Maharashtra, as part of ShendraBidkin Industrial Area (SBIA) under DMIC.

2018

CCEA approval accorded for development of trunk infrastructure components of Integrated Multi Modal Logistics Hub - Nangal Chaudhary, Haryana under DMIC. Click Here

2020

DMICDC Ltd. renamed to National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) Limited for developing various Industrial Corridor Projects as part of India’s flagship ‘National Industrial Corridor Programme’.

2024

Centre approves 12 new industrial smart city projects worth Rs 28,602 crore for development of trunk infrastructure packages. Click Here

CCEA approval accorded for development of trunk infrastructure components for Dighi Port Industrial Area (Maharashtra), Jodhpur Pali Marwar Industrial Area (Rajasthan), Palakkad Industrial Area (Kerala), IMC Khurpia Farm (Uttarakhand), IMC Rajpura Patiala (Punjab), IMC Hisar (Haryana), IMC Agra & Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), IMC Gaya (Bihar), Zaheerabad Phase-1 (Telangana), Orvakal Industrial Area & Koparthy Industrial Area (Andhra Pradesh).
